Overview
Amazons is a two-player game where the last player to move wins—therefore, ties are impossible. You try to win by capturing territory where your pieces can move freely while at the same time filling in territory to inhibit your opponent's movement.
Board
The standard Amazons board size is 10x10. Igfip supports a range of smaller and larger board sizes as well as rectangular boards and obstructed spaces.

Pieces
Each player has four Amazons. This number does not change throughout the game because pieces cannot be captured.
Rules
- White moves first.
- A piece may move any number of spaces orthogonally or diagonally as long as all spaces intervening between the starting and ending spaces are empty. This is similar to how a queen moves in Chess.
- After a piece moves from its starting space to its ending space, the player's turn is completed by firing an arrow from the ending space to any square reachable via the rules of movement described above. The arrow's target square is filled in and becomes impassable for the remainder of the game.
- As long as you can move, you must make a move.
- The game ends when play passes to a player who is no longer able to make a valid move. When that happens, the last player to have moved wins.
