Overview

Forms is a two-player game where the player left with no pieces on the board at the end of the game wins. You try to win by creating disconnected groups of pieces which are removed from the board.

Forms was designed by Stephen W. Meyers.

Board

The standard Forms board size is 18x18.

Pieces

Each player starts with a number of pieces equal to half the number of squares on the board, filling the half of the board on the player's side.

Rules

  1. Black moves first.
  2. Two pieces which are adjacent horizontally or vertically form a connection. A set of mutually connected pieces forms a group, as does a single unconnected piece.
  3. On your turn, you must move one of your pieces to a space occupied by an enemy piece, thereby removing the enemy piece from the board. In addition, all pieces are removed from the board which are not part of the group containing the newly moved piece.
  4. The game ends when one player's pieces have all been removed from the board. That player wins the game.
