About the Creators

We're strategy board gamers creating a service for strategy board gamers. Our primary aim is to connect people together to play games that require more thought than twitch. In time, Igfip™ will allow you to play abstract board games, eurogames, role-playing games, card games, and wargames of all types.

Also, we intend eventually to allow you to upload your own game parts so you can play any game you can imagine with other players. You will even be able to implement your own rules for many abstract strategy games.

The advantages of Web-based gaming via Igfip™ are clear. You don't have to install special software. We make it easy to find people to play with and make new friends. There's no set up time (this is especially important to wargamers). You can have multiple games going at the same time without cluttering your table. You can play from anywhere at any time as long as you have access to a compatible Web browser.

You don't have to play a game in one sitting if you don't have the time. Come back when you're ready to play and your game will be waiting for you. Many of our games feature a computer opponent, in case you want to play alone. You can even play against yourself if you want to practice new strategies before taking on an opponent.

About the Technology

Igfip™ is produced by Savarese Software Research Corporation using the Web Interactive Bus™ (WiB™), a next-generation Web application platform. We are developing a series of multi-player interactive strategy board games as our first wave of applications, all of which will be made available through Igfip™.

The WiB™ is a platform for constructing and deploying multi-user interactive Web applications hosted on Beowulf Linux clusters. Igfip™ is a service that delivers both free and subscription-based WiB™ software.

WiB™ applications perform better, scale better, are more usable, and require less hardware than traditional Web applications because the WiB™

  • is inherently distributed and designed to run on Beowulf Linux clusters
  • does not possess a centralized database bottleneck
  • is not built with Java, Python, Ruby, Perl, PHP, or XML
  • uses less memory and runs faster than Java, Python, Ruby, Perl, or PHP runtime environments
  • does not consume a process or thread per client connection
  • is fault-resilient
  • does not require Java applets or Flash plugins

The Igfip Game Engine™ (IgE™—pronounced Iggy™) is a WiB™-derived programming framework for running multi-player games on Beowulf Linux clusters.
